Sequoia National Park

This last weekend Mark, Evan, and I took an over
night trip to Sequoia National Park.
It was a great get away.

This is why I LOVE living in LA/California,
you can drive 3 hours and be at a national park in the mountains.
(I LOVE the mountains!!!)

Evan had is first swim!

As soon as we got to the hotel dad wanted to go for a swim
and he took Evan right along with him.

Evan loved motor boat with dad.

Evan took a short break after we dipped him under the water...
he did not cry but mom wanted to cuttle him because
she realized it was a new scary experience.

But he wanted to go back in.
Here he is, more motor boat with dad.

Our first hike of the day was Moro Rock, a big dome shaped rock.
The air quality was not the best because of the fires on the coast
but as you can see we still saw beautiful sights!

Family picture!!!

Mark climbed on top of this fallen down Sequoia.

HUGE!

Mark and Evan looked up the burned out area of this alive Sequoia tree.
We learned that it is vital to Sequoia's reproduction that there are fires.
The heat releases the seeds. Most of the Sequoia trees we saw had burned areas.

Where's brown bear?
Can you see it in the picture below?
(Mark was almost charged by this bear, ask him about it for more details)

Finishing lunch!

Evan needed a break from the stroller on the hike, so dad carried him for awhile.
Now he is a happy boy!

We love more smiles!

If you look closely you can see me standing in front of this tree.
That's how BIG they are.

Its was a long and wonderful day, Evan was ready to go home!
